My biggest fear about the current Labour government isn’t just where the signs suggest we’re heading, but that they seem unlikely to solve the problems fuelling so much of the division and conflict we see on our streets and online.
They appear content with soundbites while their policies often side with the wrong causes, and their sympathy lies with those creating chaos rather than those trying to live in peace. After every tragedy, we hear the same tired line: “We’ll do everything in our power to make sure this never happens again.”
But they already have that power. Nobody has more.
Power Isn’t the Problem – Cowardice Is
They make the laws. They set the policies. That is their power. They have the power to make sure ‘it will not happen again’. Yet we see our streets filled with masked crowds waving fear-inducing flags, protests turning toxic, and ideologies clashing while ordinary people are branded as racists for daring to say it’s wrong.
That stance doesn’t calm things. It fuels them.
Millions of people simply want to go about their lives, send their kids to school without fear, visit Christmas markets without vile protests against Christianity, and live in a country that feels safe again. These aren’t extreme demands. They’re the basic expectations of a stable society.
Excuses, Delays, and Empty Promises
We keep hearing about long-term plans; “We’ll stop the boats in twelve months,” or “We’ll address the issue in stages.” But they could stop them today if they had the will. The navy could park in the Channel and end it within hours. That’s not politics. That’s basic action.
They have the means. What they lack is courage.
Instead, they posture, argue in Parliament like schoolchildren, and cower behind fear of backlash.
They seem more concerned about avoiding offence than doing the right thing.
Mr Starmer – Put Aside Fear and Lead, Please
An ex-police officer recently said he’d pleaded with the head of the Met to “put aside his preconceptions and just do the right thing.” That one sentence sums up everything wrong with our leadership.
If I could say one thing to Keir Starmer, it would be this:
forget the cameras, forget the spin, stop worrying about who might take offence — and just bloody do the right thing.
What Has to Happen Before You Act?
What has to happen? What dreadful, avoidable thing has to happen before the spin finally stops? How many more lives have to be lost before the name-calling, the party bickering, and the endless social division are pushed aside?
When will our politicians, especially our Prime Minister, simply do the right bloody thing so people in this country can live without fear? Without being on high alert. Without constantly wondering “what next?”
Stop the hollow soundbites. Stop the BS narrative pumped through mainstream media.
Tell the truth.
And just do the right thing.
